Materials You'll Need:

 

EIFS Repair Mortar: A pre-mixed or custom-blended mortar specifically designed for EIFS repairs.

Corner Bead: The same type of corner bead used in the original installation.

Mesh Tape: Fiberglass or alkali-resistant mesh tape.

Primer: A bonding primer for EIFS surfaces.

Paint: Matching paint for the EIFS finish.

Repair Process:

 

Prepare the Damaged Area:

Clean: Thoroughly clean the damaged area with a wire brush or scraper to remove loose debris, dirt, and any existing paint.

Expose the Base: If the damage is deep, you may need to carefully remove the damaged EIFS material to expose the base layer. Use a utility knife or scraper for this.

Remove Loose Bead: If the corner bead is loose, remove it carefully.

Apply Primer:

Prime the Area: Apply a bonding primer to the cleaned and exposed base layer, as well as to the existing EIFS surface surrounding the damaged area. This helps ensure good adhesion of the repair mortar.

Install New Corner Bead (If Needed):

Cut to Size: Measure the length of the damaged area and cut the new corner bead to size.

Secure the Bead: Use construction adhesive or screws to secure the new corner bead in place. Make sure it's flush with the existing EIFS surface.

Apply Repair Mortar:

Fill the Gap: Apply the EIFS repair mortar to the damaged area, ensuring it fills the gap completely and adheres to the existing EIFS surface. Use a trowel to spread the mortar evenly.

Embed Mesh Tape: While the mortar is still wet, embed the mesh tape into the mortar, smoothing it out to ensure good adhesion.

Smooth the Surface: Use a trowel to smooth the mortar and create a seamless transition with the existing EIFS surface. Let the mortar dry completely.

Finish:

Sand: Lightly sand the repaired area to create a smooth surface.

Prime and Paint: Apply a primer to the repaired area and then paint it with the matching EIFS paint.

Important Notes：

Moisture: Ensure the EIFS surface is dry before starting the repair.

Temperature: The ideal temperature for EIFS repair mortar is between 50°F and 90°F (10°C and 32°C).
